How to disguise dark circles under the eyes: tips from a makeup artist
No signs of fatigue
Bruises under the eyes are a fairly common phenomenon among clients, which is important for every makeup artist to deal with. Our expert tells us how to disguise dark circles under the eyes with the help of cosmetics.
There are a huge number of reasons that provoke the appearance of dark circles under the eyes: stress, lack of sleep, various diseases. Another reason: thin skin under the eyes and capillaries located close to it. Without a doubt, dark circles spoil the entire appearance and can disrupt the harmony of even the most beautiful makeup.
As a rule, to disguise dark circles under the eyes, a concealer is used - a tonal concentrate that has a soft texture and a high pigment content in the composition, thanks to which it is able to cover problems such as dark circles under the eyes.
Types of concealers
Liquid concealer. This beauty product is ideal for correcting light darkening in the area around the eyes. It lays on the skin in a thin layer and does not emphasize wrinkles. Most often presented in a tube or bottle.
Cream concealer. This product has the highest coverage density. It perfectly hides even pronounced circles under the eyes, but at the same time it is easy to apply and blend due to its oily texture. Available in stick or jar format.
Light-reflecting concealer. The lightest version of a creamy concealer with pearly shine and reflective particles in the composition. This product delicately illuminates and refreshes the look, but it will not remove pronounced bruises under the eyes. Most often, reflective concealers resemble a fountain pen with a built-in brush and dispenser.

How to choose the right product based on texture and shade?
Dark circles under the eyes are best covered with a thick concealer that is a shade lighter than your foundation. If the circles have a brown tint, give preference to a red concealer.
When using this beauty product, age matters! If we need to disguise the color, but there are no wrinkles in the area around the eyes, it is enough to use a thick product. And if we need to deal not only with the color of circles under the eyes, but also with the texture of the skin, in this case very dense products are not suitable, as they will further emphasize age-related changes.
That’s why we use thick concealers for young skin, and light and weightless products for older skin. Please note: the chosen products should not dry out the skin!
How to properly disguise dark circles under the eyes?
Before applying makeup, I recommend using patches that have been in the refrigerator before. 15 minutes is enough to remove swelling and moisturize the skin. After this, apply cream for the skin around the eyes.
The next step is to apply concealer to cover up the dark circles under your eyes. Use a patting motion to create a thin, weightless layer of product. Only after this do we apply foundation !
How to prevent makeup from creasing and dryness in the eye area?
Refuse products with an oily texture as a base for makeup - then the concealer will not crease. But do not forget that with a certain eye shape, especially with age-related makeup , cosmetics simply cannot avoid creasing throughout the day.
What mistakes are important to avoid?
The main mistake is choosing the wrong concealer shade or texture. If you guessed right with them, then everything will be fine.
