How to determine your face shape using a ruler?

Two simple ways

With experience, determining the shape of the face will become a routine task for the hairdresser, which will be performed automatically. But if sometimes difficulties arise or the master is a beginner, there are two simple ways to determine the shape of the client’s face.

All methods for determining the shape of the face are based on measuring its parameters. The first method provides both the option of measuring yourself, and directly by the master. The first independent method involves measuring parameters on a face print on a mirror, which can be obtained by wrapping around the reflection in the mirror.

For the master, a lighter option is suitable - without a mirror and lipstick.

You need to pull your hair back from your face as much as possible.

You need to measure parameters in a relaxed facial position, without expressing any emotions.

Using a ruler, take the following measurements of the client and record these measurements: width of the forehead, width of the jaw, width of the cheekbones, and length of the face from the top of the forehead to the chin.

The combination of these indicators can give the following

A round or square face means that the width and height of the face are equal.

A rectangular face shape is when the height of the face is 1.5 times the width.

If the width of the forehead and the width of the face are greater than the width of the chin, then it is a triangle or a heart.

Oval - when the width of the face is greater than the width of the forehead and the width of the chin.

The rarest face shape is a pear, where the width of the chin is greater than the width of the forehead and the width of the face.

The second method similarly involves measuring the latitude and height of the face, but with a different method of determination.

It is necessary to measure two indicators: the height of the face and the distance from the base of the nose to the tip of the chin (Value B). The height of the face must be divided by 3 (value A).

This is where the “either/or” begins.

If the resulting number is equal to the distance from the base of the nose to the tip of the chin, then this is an oval face shape or a heart (provided you have a sharp chin).

If the number of divided face heights is less than the distance from the base of the nose to the tip of the chin, then it is a round, triangular or diamond-shaped face shape.

If the divided height of the face is still greater than the distance from the nose to the chin, then it is a square or rectangle.
