Where to start creating a training course for hairdressers? What is important to consider when creating a training program? We talked about this and more on one of the live broadcasts with Evgeniy Pecheritsa.

Yesterday on our Instagram page, traditionally for Thursday, there was a live broadcast on the topic “How to create a training course for hairdressers?”, the guest of which was Evgeniy Pecheritsa , creative director of the HAIRDESIGN Academy, an international class master with 15 years of experience, creator of the HAIRDESIGN training system academy and forming a teaching structure for the teacher of the entire team, teaching experience - 9 years.

Evgeniy, tell me, what was your first training course like?

My first author's courses were inspired by the Vidal Sasson Academy. When I completed my training at the Academy, I wanted to present information the way they do. Here in Ukraine they do it differently, I won’t say that it’s worse, in some ways it may be better, but for some reason I wanted to convey information in the same way as at the Academy in London.

And, accordingly, the first such course was individual training for my colleague, who was also a technologist for the L'Oreal brand. She came to me for a block of women's haircuts, these were basic, fundamental women's haircuts. I was confident that I would be able to share quality information. And, it seems to me, it was a success, because she then went to improve her qualifications at Sassoon Academy, and the teachers there appreciated her skills. They were surprised that she did not study with them, but at the same time she understands what they are talking about. Apparently, the information was presented correctly.

Where should a master start? Is the uniqueness of the course idea important?

Whenever you create something, you feel like the idea is unique. I believe that you need to try and see how people react. Of course, a unique idea will work better. But I would recommend that a hairdresser start with some kind of foundation, basics. Because you need to be well versed and understand the base, only then will you be able to create something original. Although if you create a new database, then why not?

What is important to consider when creating a course?

I created my course incorrectly and neglected many factors. But now, from my experience, I understand that it is necessary to define three main types of training areas: master classes, seminars and shows.

Next, fill each of these types with certain points. Seminars are an introduction to a product or subject. Master classes - demonstration of your skills and uniqueness, unique cutting techniques, etc. And the show program is a manifestation of creativity.

I would start by working with some brand or company. This makes it possible for people to know about you, allows you to develop, since the company trains you and there may be bonuses for you as a teacher in the form of discounts or gifts.

When you start with this, you gain experience to implement further plans.

What were your mistakes in building the course?

There was an incorrect structure, a sequence of parts. I could ignore the lecture part and start with practice. Secondly, I didn’t complete the information. And third, and most importantly, I tried to give a lot of things in one seminar. It was overwhelming. It is important not to overdo it here. There must be consistency and moderation of information.

What is important to consider when creating a program?

If we are talking about building a program, we must remember three types, three parts. This is a lecture, demonstration, practice. All three types are very important and need to be taken into account. When I started creating courses, I started only with practice. The student immediately began to work. There was a lecture part, but I don’t consider it powerful, it was more of an introduction.

Lecture part + presentation – the perfect combination. He hears from the teacher and sees with examples. Demonstration: the student can see a live performance and, relatively speaking, touch it.

In this case, it is important to divide your audience into three categories: auditory, visual and kinesthetic. Often, absolutely all categories are present at a master class. If you take this into account, you can better convey information and reach a larger audience.
