Haircut using the “finger” method: in what cases should a hairdresser resort to it?
Memo

A small reminder about the most important thing regarding haircuts using the “on the fingers” method. How to do it and in what cases it is worth resorting to this method - we talk in the material.
The “finger” haircut method is shortening the hair above the fingers throughout the entire head or in certain areas of the head. Often this method is used after thinning, when it is necessary to trim hair that is longer than the bulk of the hair.
- A haircut on the fingers is performed in the direction from the face to the back of the head.
- To perform a haircut you need to use straight scissors and a comb.
- Performed on both wet and dry hair.
- The haircut sequence is as follows: parietal zone - crown - temples - occipital zone.
When does a hairdresser use this cutting method?
- as a separate haircut method
- for shortening long hair before the main haircut
- in order to even out the haircut pattern
During the haircut, the master holds the strand with the middle and index fingers of his left hand, cutting the hair, guiding the scissors along the fingers. When cutting hair, the comb should be held with your left hand in a non-working position.
In the frontal-parietal zones, the strands are separated by horizontal partings, and the remaining zones by vertical partings. When cutting vertical strands of hair, the ends of the scissors should be directed upward.
How to do it?
You need to select and comb a strand 2-3 cm thick (0.5-1 cm for thick hair), hold it between your index and middle fingers under the comb.
You need to pull the strand perpendicular to the head, moving the comb upward and then moving your fingers.
You need to stop the movement of your fingers a little above the cut line, and then bring the comb to the end of the hair.
You need to cut the hair by guiding the scissors along your fingers. We focus on the first control strand.
Important!
The cut should be made at a distance of no more than 1 cm from the fingers. Otherwise, the accuracy of the cut line will be lost.
However, you should be careful not to cut close to your fingers, so as not to damage them.
The strands can be highlighted with different partings, and the position of the left hand holding the strand also changes. Fingers can point up or down; the cut can be made both from the inside and outside of the palm.
