At the beginning of each year and season, stylists try to predict trends that will appeal to many clients. And the beginning of this year was no exception.

The British magazine HJ tried to predict some trends in hairstyles, cuts, styling and coloring, and they seemed quite universal to us, so we translated the material for you.

Elegant buns

“An elegant bun is one of my favorite looks for clients who are constantly on the move, perfect for special occasions or at the gym. It's easy to create this look at home by simply parting your hair in the middle and pulling your hair into a low ponytail. Next, divide the ponytail into two parts and twist them together, then wrap the hair around the base of the ponytail and secure the ends with bobby pins. For a lighter, more natural look, you can pull out the strands near your face.” James Alfie Parr, celebrity stylist and manager of Brotherhood

Large volume

“During lockdown, many clients have learned to style their hair better. I love a good blow dry, but it has become a bit of a lost art. The best way to wear this kind of root volume with a little texture but smoother and shinier is to focus more on movement rather than clutter.” Jonathan Andrew

Bean

“Soft, full and super chic - everything you need for a bob in 2021. This classic cut is flattering for everyone: simply adjust the length to flatter your clients' face shape and add a little texture around the base to keep it fresh." Andrew Barton, Creative and Communications Director, Headmasters

Textures

“Texture is something timeless and important for 2021, with clients opting for multi-dimensional layers, bangs and curls. Whether their hair is long or short, clients prefer texture while adding a little creativity to their style. With that in mind - Shag is coming back in 2021. This style looks amazing on both long and shorter lengths and can be modified to suit all hair, especially with curly locks, it is so eye-catching.” Paul Finnell, Creative Director, F&M Hairdressing

Bold bangs

“2021 is all about bold bangs! Not only are they so eye-catching, but they can completely transform any style and take it to a whole new level - trust me when I say bangs are back and are here to stay!” Paul Watts, member of Joico's European design team

Disc waves

“From a style standpoint, disc waves are something to watch out for. Think 70s style volume with lots of height and texture throughout the hair. It is best to curl your hair with a small straightening iron. After styling, use your fingers to tousle the curls and create volume where it’s needed.” Simon Hill, owner of Sesh Hairdressing

Voluminous pixie haircuts

“Short hair was at the peak of popularity in 2020, and this continues into 2021. They look best when paired with volume and texture, while creating a chic, "cool girl" inspired look. Suzie McGill, International Artistic Director, Rainbow Room International
