Hair polishing with a machine is a procedure that involves cutting off the split ends of the hair with a special attachment on a hair clipper. It is performed along the entire length of the hair, without shortening the length.
What type of hair is suitable for hair polishing?
Damaged hair that is constantly subjected to styling and curling with hot tools,
- Painted
- Dry and brittle
- Prone to excessive fluffiness and electrification
It is not recommended to polish hair with a machine for clients with very thin and excessively weakened hair, as well as for those who have naturally wavy and curly hair.
Benefits of Hair Polishing
Basically, the effect of smooth soft hair from this procedure lasts up to 3 months, from 70 to 90% of split ends along the entire length are removed;
Easy combing
Significantly fewer split ends
Using a machine, a perfectly even cut is obtained along the entire length. In addition, the client can be offered a haircut with a machine with a perfectly even, dense cut.
The main advantage is that polishing does not affect the length itself, the hair is not cut.
Disadvantages of Hair Polishing
Hair polishing is not suitable for clients with hair loss problems, since after polishing the volume of the hairstyle is partially lost
Not recommended for thin or naturally curly hair
How is the hair polishing procedure performed?
This procedure is performed using a hair clipper with a special attachment. Basically, all manufacturers have the same nozzles, and they differ in the width of the knife block and the place where the nozzle connects to the machine.
The main task of the machine is to create a bend on the fixed strand of hair. The blades of the machine are located a centimeter from this bend. When passing a strand through this nozzle, a free end of the hair appears and it is actually cut off.
The procedure is performed on clean hair with thermal protection applied. Before polishing, the hair is straightened with a straightening iron. This is important from the point of view that the machine should only capture the damaged part of the strand.
You need to start polishing from the back of the head. You need to go through each strand with the machine 3-4 times to ensure maximum effect. The strand is placed in the machine and moved in different directions.
Hair polishing with a machine begins with the most damaged area - the ends of the hair. Then move the nozzle and lead it down from the roots. The master needs to control the process and evaluate those sections of the length where split ends begin.
At the end of the procedure, to refresh the shape, you can offer the client a haircut with a clipper, that is, trim the ends with an even cut. And also apply a leave-in shine product.
Polishing takes 1-2 hours. The next procedure can be performed after 3-4 months.
