Covering gray hair: 5 main rules to remember
Check list

Gray hair is less susceptible to coloring than others, but over the years of development of the beauty industry, hairdressers have gotten the hang of it and have come up with several important rules for coloring that always work. And here is this checklist.
Dye your hair in several layers. The structure of gray hair is empty, therefore, it will absorb the dye very quickly. The dye must be applied tightly and in several layers. To dye regrown gray roots 1 cm long with normal hair thickness, it takes about 50 g of dye. You need to reapply the paint after 15-20 minutes where the paint has absorbed less well and dry areas have formed. This way the color will lie more densely.
Avoid using only cool shades. It is not the best solution to use only cool shades. They don't handle gray hair well. Always add a natural base or a little warm color to offset the warm pigments. Cold mixton on gray hair can become too cold.
Use a bristle mixture. “Bristle mixture” is a double saturation of paint with color. The bristle mixture is only necessary when dyeing gray hair and difficult-to-dye hair.
When using a bristle mixture, it is better to take a shade one tone darker than desired and an activator of 9% in a 1:1 ratio with the dye. With the help of an increased concentration of hydrogen peroxide, it will be possible to paint over any area, because hydrogen peroxide is able to “break” the lipid layer that is present in the hair so that the pigments can be embedded deeper.
Use a denser shade. In the palettes of many brands there are dyes with a double natural base. They contain more pigments and work more densely.
Perform prepigmentation. Prepigmentation is the preliminary pigmentation of gray hair, which uses shades one tone lighter than the desired color and a warm direction (gold, copper, red). You need to apply without an activator, leave for 10-15 minutes, and then remove the product with a towel. After this, you can apply paint of the desired shade with an activator.
In what cases should you resort to prepigmentation?
– in the presence of local gray hair;
– if the roots are gray ;
– for hair areas with gray hair more than 80%.
