Coloring strands on the face: a trend or not?
Very popular coloring
Dyeing strands near the face is a trend that today is perceived dubiously by both artists and clients. It was especially popular when many clients experimented at home on their own during quarantine at the beginning of 2020.
Basically, these were experiments with lightening the two front strands of the face, which subsequently contrasted with the main mass of hair. This became a kind of color accent that framed the face advantageously and also looked very stylish.
Coloring only the two front strands actually comes from such well-known color techniques as the money piece technique or face-framing highlights technique. The latter literally means “framing the face” with lighter strands for visual interest and drawing attention to the face. This method also helps to soften the oval of the face.
The classic, familiar option of coloring two strands on the face is a play of dark and light shades, where a lot of the hair can be light brown, chestnut or black, and the strands can be bleached or even pure white.
Also, a simpler solution may be highlighting, which involves alternating similar shades of the same color scheme. The task in this method of coloring is one: without any special changes in the client’s image, to refresh it and highlight the face.
Today, the more popular option is contrasting coloring of the two front strands. There are many color combinations here, with dyeing the bulk of the hair or just strands. It can be a mix of black and red, blonde and red, black and coral and many other shades.
In fact, the most recognizable mix of bright black with pure white, in contrast of opposite shades, can be included in a separate group.
If a client wants to do an interesting coloring within one color, recommend a variation with red colors, while it is better to make the mass of hair darker or even natural. For creative colors, you can combine red with ice blue or pure blond with bright purple.
A “new trend” of a well-known trend can be called dyeing two strands in different colors. For example, an option when one strand is red and the other is pale pink. In any case, and despite different attitudes to this trend, why not offer it to the client?
