Banana Makeup: a bright fruit trend on Instagram
Worth repeating
Banana inspired makeup has become a huge trend on Instagram! How this happened and why you should join this bright trend – we’ll tell you in the material.
Trends that originate on Instagram rarely leave it and, as a rule, are characterized by creativity, informality and sometimes even a slight degree of madness. If you are one of the connoisseurs of original beauty images, like to break boundaries, break stereotypes and simply lift the spirits of others with the help of makeup, be sure to join the next Instagram trend - Banana Makeup.
At the end of March, the trend was set by makeup artist Paz Sykes, known for her bold work. She created makeup inspired by a ripe yellow banana and posted a photo on her account. As it turned out, this simple but interesting idea was liked by many colleagues who decided to repeat the experiment with colorful fruit makeup. It’s amazing how a humble banana, without suspecting anything, inspired an entire makeup industry!
Pass Sykes commented on her creation to Allure:
“When quarantine started, I thought I had thousands of complex looks to make that could take me hours, and I was really worried about being super productive. But then I said to myself: “Stop, it’s not about that – now it’s about slowing down, about the fact that everything becomes easier, simpler. You just have to look around and connect with nature and with yourself.” That was my inspiration: simple and everyday.”
To achieve the “banana” look, the makeup artist used just four products: a creamy yellow pigment on the eyelids to set the mood, light mascara, eyeliner (which Paz used to imitate dark spots on a banana peel) and eyebrow gel.
Soon after the makeup artist’s post received a lot of likes, other “banana” makeup looks began to appear on social networks. At the moment, there are more than 1,700 posts on Instagram with the hashtag #bananamakeup, and this is definitely not the limit!
