We are sure that all hairdressers know about the Sassoon Academy and its creator, Vidal Sassoon. In the material, the expert shares his opinion on the differences between schools in the direction of haircuts.

Evgeniy Pecheritsa , creative director of the HAIRDESIGN academy, international class master with 14 years of experience, creator of the HAIRDESIGN academy training system and the formation of a teaching structure for the teacher of the entire team

If we talk only about haircuts, the characteristic differences are as follows:

1. The Soviet school of craftsmanship established the definition of haircut shapes, such as bob, cascade, garcon, and even the Sassoon haircut and others were invented.

2. The Soviet school developed a definition of haircut for a better understanding of the client and the master - this significantly simplified the explanations and understanding on the part of the client.

3. A certain number of shapes are designed for any length, a total of 12 haircut shapes. The master did not need to study anything else, at least at the start of his career.

4. SASSOON Academy does not have ready-made forms. Here, led by its founder, they initially developed certain forms during the 60-70s. But after Vidal, Sassoon came to the conclusion that it was necessary to understand the methods for creating a form, and not always use a ready-made form. Therefore, they subsequently developed basic haircutting techniques.

5. Difficulty in explanations. When a form is created, it is difficult to explain to the client what the result will be, because it is necessary to switch from professional language to understandable language for the client.

6. Sassoon's developed basic methods answer any question in creating a haircut. Ready-made haircuts narrowly address questions about the individual characteristics of the client.

7. Soviet basic haircuts are easier to learn, but the basic methods from the Sassoon Academy require many years of studying the rules.

My personal opinion

You need to study both schools in order to understand the differences and be able to more professionally answer any question from the client. In my opinion, the Sassoon Academy methods do a great job of this!
