How to make a makeup artist’s Instagram profile beautiful, useful and informative so that potential clients want to follow and stay with the artist, we’ll tell you in the material.
A modern makeup artist not only needs, but is vitally important to have a beautifully designed Instagram account, which in 2021 is the business card of any artist. But where to start, how to position yourself, where to get stylish photos and videos?
To answer these questions, our expert Alena Antonova has formulated five important rules that should be followed. Let's take a pencil and take advantage of the opportunity, that is, quarantine, to introduce innovations and actively put things in order on our Instagram page!

If you want to receive orders and attract new clients through Instagram, you need to get people interested in your profile.
First – design of the profile header
Indicate in your profile header what you do, where you work and facts that may be of interest to your target audience.
Leave a contact number for communication, and you can also come up with your own branded hashtag for subsequent publications.
Second - the general style of the account
First, you need to choose a general profile style and show exactly what product you want to sell to the client. If this is commercial makeup, you should have high-quality photographs without excessive creativity and fashion elements. A client may be intimidated or not take seriously a makeup artist who draws big red wings or sprinkles glitter all over their face. But if you, on the contrary, are good at creativity, brands and student makeup artists will pay attention to you.
Third - format of materials
Choose a format for presenting information: will you attract clients with before/after photographs, shoot a video showing how to apply cosmetics correctly, or demonstrate the process of transforming the image as a whole?
Fourth – high-quality photos and videos
You can take photos for Instagram with three different light sources:
- natural light (daylight);
- ring lamp;
- video light
My favorite way to shoot is using the video light + ring light combination.
The ring light creates a Photoshop effect, but it blurs a lot and can overexpose, while the video light emphasizes highlights well and gives the skin a beautiful warm tint.
To get a high-quality photo or video, be sure to use processing programs to add brightness to the picture and hide minor imperfections.
Fifth – communication with subscribers
Try to communicate with your subscribers and clients. Ask questions to understand who your followers are, what interested them in your profile, and what their needs are.
