Topical corticosteroids: the evolution of drugs

The problem of treating acute and chronic dermatoses is currently gaining particular scientific and practical significance due to the increase in morbidity, especially allergic skin diseases with an inflammatory component, recurrent course, increased frequency of severe clinical forms, significant decrease in the quality of life and social maladjustment of patients.
Treatment of a number of inflammatory dermatoses is difficult to imagine without the use of external drugs, which include corticosteroid hormones (glucocorticoids).
The skin is a unique, complex organ and performs many functions, including protective, thermoregulatory, immune, secretory, excretory, sensory and even social. Therefore, the treatment of dermatological pathology, which leads to a change in any of the physiological functions, as well as the aesthetic appearance of the skin, is very important.
One of the main components of the complex treatment of dermatoses was and remains external therapy with its unique ability to directly affect the lesion.
