Scarring alopecia: what processes lead to the destruction of the follicle
A specialist in the aesthetic profile should be aware of the possible causes and consequences of the development of this pathology.
Scarring alopecia is a collective term used to describe the process that leads to follicle destruction and scarring of the skin. Regardless of whether the cause of the disease is known or not, cicatricial baldness is irreversible, although over time the process stops and permanent baldness usually does not occur.
Scarring alopecia is a disease in which hair follicles completely die, fibrous tissue is formed in their place, as a result of which hair restoration becomes impossible. Most often, cicatricial alopecias occur as a result of mechanical injuries, thermal and chemical burns, frostbite, radiation, as a result of transferred diseases (shingles, advanced syphilis), some forms of fungal infections.
Scarring baldness can be the result of the influence of various parasitic microorganisms, the consequences of purulent manifestations of trichomycosis, scabies, etc. Scar types of baldness are generalized as an irregular composition of the hair cover on all or individual parts of the body, which, according to age, sex and race, are usually covered with hair.
This anomaly can be both acquired and congenital. But eventually it leads to irreparable hair loss.
