Recently, more and more men have begun to turn to aesthetic cosmetology clinics for the correction of signs of facial aging. They complain of wrinkles, dark circles under the eyes, enlarged pores, and one of the most common complaints is a double chin.

When starting to draw up a treatment plan, one should evaluate existing age-related changes and the degree of their severity, take into account gender-morphological specificity, physiological features of male skin, subcutaneous fat packs and muscles.

A man's skin is about 25% thicker than a woman's (due to the high level of testosterone and dihydrotestosterone), the percentage of collagen ⎼ is 20% higher. It has more sebaceous glands, and they are connected to hair follicles. The activity of the sebaceous glands is increased with the help of androgens. Men are more resistant to an aggressive environment, and as a result, photoaging is less pronounced.

Subcutaneous adipose tissue in men is well developed, and adipocytes are located under transversely located fibrous bands; in women, fibrous bands have a shape reminiscent of honeycombs. The male skull is larger and more massive than the female, and has a more square shape. The forehead in men is wide, high, the brow arch is the most pronounced. The nose is usually large, the back is straight. The chin in men is massive, square-shaped, its lower edge is flatter.
