What the patient should know before the procedure
In the previous article, we learned about the main mistakes that can appear in the hair removal procedure already at the stage of taking an anamnesis. In the continuation of the material, we will talk about the physiology of hair growth.
Continuation, the beginning of the material here.
The third important mistake that a specialist can make is an insufficient explanation of the physiology of hair growth and the principle of influence of the proposed technique. Many patients assume that after doing 10 treatments in 10 weeks, they will completely get rid of unwanted hair and their skin will look clean, hairless and even-toned.
Your patient should know why the frequency of the procedures proposed by you should be exactly that and how the skin looks after the procedure. Consider the structure of the hair. It consists of two main parts: the shaft, which protrudes above the skin, and the hair bulb (or hair root), which is located in the lower layers of the skin, and at different depths depending on the zone.
A hair follicle is a cylindrical cavity in which the hair shaft is located. In the terminal part of the follicle there is a dermal papilla. It is a complex structure permeated by tiny capillaries and has a receptor mechanism sensitive to hormones. The blood flowing through the capillaries provides this system with nutrients and androgens that stimulate hair growth.
