Enlarged pores: causes and consequences
What depends on the intensity of work of the sebaceous glands
Oily skin with enlarged pores, which brings so many serious problems in youth, reveals its advantages in a more mature age: it ages rather slowly, it retains a greater reserve of vitality than dry skin. However, in the absence of adequate care, such skin loses its attractiveness, becomes dull, loose, porous, like a sponge. And solving this problem is sometimes quite difficult.
Enlarged openings of sebaceous glands, or as they are commonly called, facial pores, are signs of oily or combination skin. The more sebum accumulates in the duct of the sebaceous gland, the more the mouth stretches. Most often, enlarged pores are observed on the skin of the nose, forehead and chin, since the largest sebaceous glands are located there. Thus, the size of the pore is directly related to the production of sebum - the more intensively it is produced, the larger the pores and vice versa.
Oily skin has three main "hyperproblems":
- hyperplasia (increase) of sebaceous gland cells;
- hypersecretion of sebum;
- follicular hyperkeratosis (thickening in the area of the mouth of the sebaceous gland).
However, it is possible to effectively deal with enlarged pores only when the factor that provokes their appearance is determined. It is necessary to understand what affected the intensity of the work of the sebaceous glands and caused the appearance of enlarged pores.
