Chronological changes, features of care and correction: from acne to anti-age
Male skin

Most of the conducted studies show that the thickness of the stratum corneum and the epidermal barrier of the skin are arranged in the same way regardless of gender (sex). And for the main differences, primarily, hormonal regulation is responsible.
Features of male skin
Against the background of a high level of testosterone, male skin has certain features: the epidermis is approximately 24% denser, the dermis has approximately 22% more collagen fibers, which are located differently and are synthesized more actively. More intensive secretion of sebum, a larger diameter of the excretory duct and a greater number of side branches in the sebaceous gland with a smaller number of glands themselves (according to some sources).
Men's skin is thicker, more elastic and retains moisture better, initially less prone to the aggressive effects of the external environment, the pH of men's skin is 5.0-5.4, i.e. with a shift to the acidic side, which can lead to increased sensitivity, cause excessive peeling, irritation, dryness , tension. On average, the skin is oilier, with wide pores, prone to seborrhea and acne breakouts, especially during puberty. In addition, the course of acne in men is usually more severe and post-acne phenomena occur more often.
In men, the stratum corneum of the epidermis is thicker and much denser than in women, this is explained by the specific effect of androgens and constant shaving, which causes stable hyperkeratosis and a visual feeling that the skin is thicker and rougher.
