Lipids in cosmetology

image

Lipids are organic substances, esters of alcohol and higher acids. They are insoluble in water, but dissolve in organic solvents (chloroform, benzene, ether).

Although the word "lipids" is translated from Greek as "fats", these concepts are not completely equivalent. Fats are just one type of lipid. Lipids are part of plant and animal cells, but their concentration can vary greatly (from 2 to 90%) depending on the type of cell. The maximum content of these substances is characterized by fatty fiber and sunflower seeds.
